I am trying to find anything about an artist we bought some oil paintings
from in the mid-60's.
He really captured the "cold isolated feeling" of our time in Port Arthur
(now part of Thunder Bay) his favorite subject seemed to be the Sleeping
Giant - but it was the Cold Gray Skies, the scrub pines, rocks and water
that help me remember what it was like to live there.

Posted by karen on: 19/Jul/2006 03:21 PMWe have a painting done by Smallwood of the sleeping giant. It was given to
my father as a going away present from the people he worked with when we
moved to Burlington, Ont. in 1969. It was passed onto me from my dad after
hanging on my Grandmothers living room wall all those years, just before he
passed away. I was small when we lived there but looking at this painting
makes me feel like I'm there again...black fly bites and all.
