Striving for Artistic Excellence for over 50 years....
Burk's Falls is located 2 1/2 hours directly north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in the heart of the Almaguin Highlands, Northern Ontario,Canada.
BFACC began in 1950 when a small group of individuals came together with the purpose of establishing an art club, primarily, for recreational painters.
Among the Instructors in the early years were Gladys Stuart and Bert Weir. Bert travelled across the district of Parry sound giving lessons. Hugo Holms, a flamboyant, colourful, German-born artist from Huntsville, gave some very interesting painting-on-location sessions. Many of the buildings captured on canvas during these sessions have vanished from the landscape, proving how important artists are in documenting the landscape and landmarks for future generations to enjoy.
Like the famed Group of Seven, who first exhibited at Ontario agricultural fairs, the Burk's Falls Fair became the venue for local artists, a tradition that continues to this day.
BFACC is one of the original clubs to be affilliated with the Northern Ontario Art Association having joined in 1954.

B-bustling,F-friendly ,A-artist C-community,C-capers
Our Bustling,Friendly,Artist Community Capers include a number of commemorative exhibitions. Village 'Scapes and Other Places, marked the 90th anniversary of Burk's Falls in 1980. Down to Earth, in 1981, brought together a unique blend of agriculture and art; '84 staged in tribute to Ontario's Bicentennial; Past and Present in 1990, mounted in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Incorporation of the Village of Burk's Falls.
In more recent years, BFACC has included a number of artisans, whose works lovingly created by carving, weaving, stitching, knitting and spinning, have added a third and interesting dimension to our club.
We continue to display and sell a great variety of paintings which are 'on view' in 15 venues in the community along the #11 corridor as well as in our Summer Gallery above Foodtown on the Main St. in Burk's Falls.
Other activites were a corn roast, painting days at members' homes, craft shows and workshops in pastel, watercolour, charcoal, carving, and basket weaving.
The Arts in the community are very important and it is reassuring to discover that "A" certainly stands for ART in Burk's Falls. The Community and surrounding area are enriched by the artistic skills and talents shared by our GROUP OF SEVEN(TY). History written by Liz Trolove
